Dictatorship: a type of government in which an individual holds absolute power. Similar to an absolute monarch in power, but does not possess a hereditary title.
Democracy: a type of government in which all citizens participate equally or through elected representation (democratic republic). Ex: The United States is a federal republicin which the powers of the central government are restricted and in which the component parts (states, colonies, or provinces) retain a degree of self-government; ultimate sovereign power rests with the voters who chose their governmental representatives, a form of democracy.
Constitutional Monarchy: a type of government in which a monarch's powers are fall within the boundaries of a constitution. (Ex: United Kingdom)
