Warm-up for the Brain: You have never had to live with wartime conditions that affected all aspects of society - a total war. Think about the things we take for granted today: going to the store and buying as much as we can, filling our gas tanks as we need to, etc. In WWII, people were not able to do these things. They had to ration food, cloth, rubber, fuel, and many other things to support the war effort. Watch the video below and take notes regarding rationing in WWII.

Describe the war’s impact on the home front, including rationing, bond drives, movement to cities and industrial centers, and the Bracero program.
Migration Patterns. Based on the Map below, identify major changes that took place in the period from 1940-1950 in the United States. From what you have learned about WWII, what would have caused these changes? Click on the map to check answers.
The Bracero Program. In the WWII years, an agreement between the U.S. and Mexico allowed for Mexican migrant workers to come to the U.S. to fill agricultural labor needs. Watch the video below for an overview of the Bracero Program. Then pretend you are a Bracero working in the U.S. during WW2. Write a journal entry (no more than a page, Times New Roman, double-spaced) describing what life was like. Try to capture the conditions they were in, emotions they felt, etc.
